PSY 4501 aims to provide an overview of the field of clinical psychology and to provide students with an in depth understanding of major issues, history of the field, and main professional activities of clinical psychologists. It consists of two hours of lecture per week and one hour of seminar per week. The lectures will focus on basic areas of clinical psychology, such as the definition of clinical psychology, its evolution, current controversies, cultural and ethical issues, clinical interview, and psychotherapy, whereas the seminars will provide students with opportunities to develop basic therapy skills. The course will also focus on the evolution and current state of clinical psychology in Turkey.
