Course Learning Outcomes

1.1 Collect data on mineral and rock types, equipment, costs, etc..

Locate and describe the mineral deposit.

2.1 Compare and conclude on surface versus underground mine selection.

Develop a conceptual design for the development and the exploitation of the mineral deposit 

3.1 Select the proper types and the sizes of major equipment required for unit mining operations. 

3.2 Discuss, develop and design safe and stable excavations for underground or surface mine.

4.1 Assess and determine the mine ventilation and the mine drainage methods and the equipment.

4.2 Determine surface plant and/or underground plant, mine wide monitoring, mine closure and reclamation.

5.1 Estimate the investment and operating costs for the mine.

5.2 Run economic analysis of the project.

6.1 Produce a clear and concise written report for a group design project.

6.2 Make an oral presentation of the team’s findings using modern software tools.
