Course Objectives

The history of ideas is a field of research in history that deals with the expression, preservation, and change of human ideas over time. The history of ideas is a sister-discipline to, or a particular approach within, intellectual history. Work in the history of ideas may involve interdisciplinary research in the history of philosophy, the history of science, and the history of literature.

The course enables the student to pursue an exciting program of study, exploring ideas comparatively and in their geographical, social and historical contexts. In order to better understand and investigate the relationship between ideas and actions across a wide variety of historical periods, and theoretical and methodological perspectives, the course is well suited.
