The major objective of the course is to provide the students with necessary information on strategic management theories and techniques, as well as how these theories and tools can be applied in the construction industry. Fundamental course objectives can be listed as follows;
- Strategy & Strategic Planning: Introduction of strategy and strategic management theories (Porter, Mintzberg, Teece etc.) and techniques for strategic planning.
- Strategic Planning in Theory: Explanation of methods and tools used for strategic positioning, strategy formulation and strategy implementation.
- Strategic Planning in Practice: Presentation of a general overview of the construction industry, analysis of competitive environment, investigation of strategies used by both the global and Turkish contractors using case studies.
- Improving students' literature surveying, oral presentation and report writing skills by class discussions as well as report writing assignments.
