Course Objectives

The focus of this course will be on Ancient Pyrrhonism, which is one of the major branches of skepticism in ancient philosophy. We will study a cluster of questions in epistemology and ethics around Pyrrho’s thought and Sextus Empricus’ Outlines of Scepticism. The last two weeks of the course will be devoted to some contemporary discussions on doxastic voluntarism and skepticism.
