The course aims firstly to familiarize the students with the history of modern Iran in its political, social and economic dimensions. Secondly it aims to provide them a critical understanding of the existing literature. Thirdly, it aims to provide them tools with which they can trace different processes in Iranian politics of the 20th and early 21st century. Fourthly, it aims to familiarize the students with nation-state building process in the region.
