By the end of the course, the students will have
- examined the approaches to analysing literary texts and approaches to using literary texts for language classes.
- discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using different literary texts with language learners
- applied a number of techniques to adapt short stories, novel chapters, play scenes/acts and poems for language teaching purposes in their micro-teachings.
- adapted a short story, a novel chapter, a play scene/act or a poem in a 50-minute lesson plan for language teaching purposes in an EFL setting.
- designed a thematic unit that integrates 3-4 literary texts of different genres to be used with language learners in EFL settings.
- developed relevant materials to accompany the literary texts in the lessons designed as part of their micro-teachings and thematic units.
- reflected their ideas on the weekly reading list in a reaction-response essay referring to their experience as a language learners and/or a language teacher.
