By the end of this course students are expected to;
- have a general knowledge on cities and their evolution in history,
- have a critical understanding of urbanization processes and urban phenomena,
- identify urban forms and their structural components,
- identify types of urban growth patterns,
- relate urban forms with social, economic and cultural urban phenomena,
- have a general knowledge on the scope of city planning,
- know fundamental urban design theories and approaches,
- have tools of observing and understanding dynamics of urban life in relation with urban space,
- have tools of analyzing urban spaces and defining urban design problems in multiple scales,
- recognize the interaction of architecture with other related disciplines in urban space production.
