Having completed this course, the student will

• experience a real-life multi-disciplinary engineering design project in a group environment
• demonstrate and combine various skills and knowledge for the development of a hydrocarbon field:
  • analyze, interpret and correlate field data: well logs, geological maps, well pressures, and pressure tests.
  • recommend a new well location based on field analysis.
  • layout the drilling and completion design of the new well.
  • complete project economics of the design.
• recognize, analyze and address subsurface uncertainty at different stages of the design
• practice and develop project management, presentation and report writing skills
• recognize where various skills and knowledge fit in the big picture
• recognize any gaps in his/her technical knowledge and skills
• learn how to manage group dynamics and develop pertinent soft skills
• recognize the challenges and rewards of group work

Concepts and skills learned here apply to engineering design projects in general. Overall, this course should provide the experience for more advanced studies and prove to be of great value in an engineer’s career.
