Each week we will read and discuss about a topic in economic history, and analyze it with theoretical insights from classical texts of economics and economic sociology. Therefore, at the end of the course, the students will not only have obtained a historical perspective to the question of institutions and development, but they will also have been acquainted with prominent theoretical approaches to this fundamental question of contemporary economic theory and economic history.
