Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to
- Develop insight into and be familiar with the research literature on mathematics teacher education,
- Realize the recommendations of various research studies for teacher education programs in mathematics,
- Enhance the understanding about different ways to study teaching and teachers,
- Critique research methodologies of the studies on mathematics teaching,
- Propose research questions on the study of mathematics teaching,
- Discuss issues concerning designing professional development programs or courses for prospective or inservice teachers.
