The objective of this course is (i) to provide students the fundamental knowledge about the different types, hydraulic and mechanical properties and civil engineering applications of geosynthetics (including geotextiles, geogrids, geonets, geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, geocomposites etc.), (ii) to teach them how to design using geosynthetics, for a variety of civil engineering applications such as reinforcement, separation, filtration, drainage, and liquid containment, (iii) to improve the written and oral communication skills of the students.
