Multidisciplinary facets of disasters, requirements for human and environmental safety are introduced. Geological and geophysical aspects of earthquakes together with identification and classification of earthquake caused hazards are  enhanced. Damages and mistakes, faults resulting structural and infrastructural damages are reviewed.  Hazard and damage reduction survey, rescue and rehabilitation operations are emphasized.   Roles in  disaster preparedness and management of institutions and educational programs are discussed.
