Course Learning Outcomes

This course introduces students to major sociological topics related to global social change and inequalities. In a first part, we explore both early capitalist economic history and the history of economic and sociological thought. In a second part, we turn to inequalities within countries. Then in a third part, this course covers the history of global inequalities, and the problem of measuring and understanding economic development. Finally, we conclude this course with discussions on current issues in global sociology.
