The main objective of this undergraduate seminar is to survey major topics in economic history from an interdisciplinary perspective. Our main focus in our historical and theoretical examinations is the role of institutions in long-term economic development. In this context, some topics we will discuss are markets and the rise of the market economy, the history of money and financial institutions, and the relationship between culture and economy.
