Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Explain essentials in plant development, growth and stress responses in terms of physiology, biochemistry and genetics.
- Carry out experiments such as assessing biomass, chlorophyll concentration, enzyme activities, gene expression, plant transformation, tissue and/or cellular localization of proteins, mutant screening and plant breeding.
- Interpret the experimental results by comparing and discussing with the literature and citing using reference manager software.
- Plan for future experiments to elaborate on their findings.
- Evaluate for which purpose and how to use different techniques, including DNA & RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, ICP-MS, microscopy and spectroscopy.
