Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the two consecutive courses, the student will be able to:

Knowledge

1.             demonstrate knowledge of contemporary theories and methodologies in architectural and urban design

2.             demonstrate knowledge of the historical and natural assets of design contexts and develop awareness with respect to environmental, social and economic sustainability

3.             apply the analytical knowledge and skills acquired in the course in their individual design projects

Skills

4.             develop ability to fulfill the complex demands and tasks required by the project briefs regarding: functional  complexities; basic legislative frames and building codes; urban design/landscape (urbanism) issues; structural and infrastructural issues as well as critical building details and construction materials.

5.             develop analytical skills for and be actively involved in the critical understanding, development and definition of an architectural/urban program

6.             develop critical skills that allow for an increasing degree of autonomy in the development of the design work

7.             work on the complex and specialized architectural problems to be defined in a theoretical framework

8.              display advanced skills in communication and the use of representation techniques.

Attitudes

9.             develop awareness of the multi-disciplinary/multi-cultural nature of design tasks and contexts

10.          develop a critical personal stance and ethical responsibility towards issues related with the environment, cultural heritage and society
