Course Objectives

1. Explain how immune system recognizes “self” and  sense “non-self”,

2. Describe pattern recognition receptors, antigen receptors, MHC molecules, antigen presentation pathways, NK cell receptors and inflammation,

3. Explain how innate immune system operates and its role in activation of adaptive immunity,

4. Describe the process of generation of antigen recognition receptors and explain how B cells and T cells respond to antigen,

5. Describe distinct antigen presentation pathways to T lymphocytes,

6. Describe  signaling through immune system receptors,

7. Describe the process of lymphocyte development and list the factors contributing to survival of lymphocytes,

8. Describe cellular and humoral immunity and explain the dynamics of adaptive immunity.
