By the end of the course the successful students are expected to:
- Comprehend the thermal characteristics of building materials.
- Calculate the heat loss and gain in the buildings.
- Design the layers of the building envelope in order to decrease the energy consumption.
- Arrange the building envelope and choose the appropriate building materials in order to acquire thermal comfort and prevent condensation.
- Be able to design according to different climatic regions.
- To evaluate geographical, climatic and sensory factors at an early stage in design.
- Be able to design regarding fire safety and take precautions against fire.
