Upon completion of this course students will be able to discuss and analyze selected works of English literature from the late 17th century through the early 20th century.  Students will also be able discuss the historical and cultural contexts that influenced the development of specific works and genres of English literature during this time frame. Through practice and study, students will improve their ability to read and write about selected texts including the cultural, historical, and/or religious influences on the development of these works.
