Course Learning Outcomes

The student passing the course will be able to:

- Use and understand current genomics / transcriptomics terminology,

- Compare advantages and caveats of different next-generation sequencing technologies and their applications,

- Understand the logic and use of state-of-the-art bioinformatics algorithms in comparative genomics and population genomics,

- Interpret genomics data with respect to evolutionary questions, such as the rate of evolutionary change, cis vs. trans mechanisms of regulatory evolution, mutation mechanisms underlying adaptive phenotypes, etc.,

- Gain the ability to use genomics / transcriptomics data to address specific research questions,

- Develop insight into current issues in evolutionary biology, with particular focus on human evolution and human population genetics.
