Course Objectives

The objective of the Cryptoanalysis of Recent Stream Ciphers course is to develop a deep theoretical understanding of the structural and mathematical vulnerabilities in modern stream cipher designs. The course emphasizes rigorous analysis of recent ciphers proposed in academic and industrial contexts—such as those from the eSTREAM portfolio—using advanced cryptanalytic techniques. Students will study the formal models and complexity-theoretic foundations that underpin attacks like algebraic, cube, correlation, and distinguishing attacks. The goal is to cultivate the ability to critically evaluate the security of new stream cipher constructions and contribute to the theoretical advancement of stream cipher cryptanalysis.
