The goal of this course is to introduce the concept of hazardous waste and hazardous waste management approaches in general. This course specifically aims to familiarize the students with the definition of hazardous wastes, concepts of waste minimization, recycling and recovery, management approaches for different types of wastes and general strucure and content of waste management regulations. In addition course aims to familiaraize students with the treatment methods of hazardous wastes, by specifically focusing on physicochemical and biological methods. It also covers incineration as a waste management approach. The course aims to provide examples from the site applications as remediation approaches.
