Course Learning Outcomes

Students will learn

1. the importance of mass transport in environmental media.

2. advective, diffusive, and dispersive mass transport in environmental media.

3. mass transfer at fluid boundaries, mass transfer coefficient, interphase mass transfer models. 

4. phase changes and equilibrium phase partitioning, volatilization, dissolution, sorption processes.

5. reaction kinetics for consecutive reactions, reversible reactions, parallel reactions. 

6. energy balance, heat transport by convection, conduction and radiation 

7. heat conservation equation.

8. development of governing equations for combinations of transport, transfer and transformation processes in environmental systems
