The main objective of the course is to develop design research skills by representing existing architectural projects, notably modernist campus designs. This can be divided into five sub goals:
1. Criticality: to develop a scientific approach towards selecting and handling source material such as literature and visual material
2. Competence: to develop advanced visual research techniques by making use various representation modes.
3. Contextualization: to be able to interpret the wider definition of “context” in architecture which may also reflect on the international socio-economic and cultural context in which modernist campus designs came into being
4. Communication: to develop adequate ways to present research findings to peers and a larger audience
5.Collaboration: to develop collaboration skills by working on a collective research theme and comparable outcomes
