The objective of the course is to teach students the mechanical properties of materials in civil engineering; the behaviour of materials under various types of loads, and the properties and types of widely used construction materials such as gypsum, lime, pozzolans, cement, aggregates, clay bricks, building stones, plastics, metals and wood. Fresh and hardened properties of cement mortar and concrete as well as the mix design calculations of concrete will be covered.
